Someone please help me. I'm trying to record
general midi stuff.(different instruments on each track) But when I play back a
recording, all the different instruments I use all come out as piano. I am new to this, can someone please take the time to help me out.

what can be the problem? is it the program change, bank select, transmit edit, recieve edit, gm edit. Please help me out.

Do you have the XP-30 switched into Performance Mode?
It sounds like you are in Patch mode.
