The drives of my G1000 are running all the time (green floppy light on, and noise from zip). Does anybody know if this is normal?

I have a Roland E-96 (baby brother to your G-1000) and the floppy disk drive spins at all times. I believe there is even some mention of this in the manual. At least, I know it is normal for my keyboard. I would have hoped that Roland put a stop to this on their later models such as yours. It is a quiet sound, but something that seems unnecessary. By the way, I eject the floppy after it loads & then no more disk spinning sound.

Yes, completely normal on G-1000 where disk drive light on but lighter than when reading the floppy disk.

Yes, Zip drive noise quite annoying! Completely normal even on a PC zip drive.
