I own a roland JD-800 synthesizer. It seems as if the aftertouch isn't working properly - i can only control it using the expression pedal, not the keyboard! Anyone who has or has had the same problem?

Just as an FYI post for any other JD800 owners reading this...

I've come to the realisation that JD800 synths are not very responsive to aftertouch.

What I mean by that is that you have to press *really* hard on the keys for it to make any noticeable change in the sound. This is not dependent on the patch program parameters, but a trait of the synth's keyboard itself. I've talked to 2 other JD owners, and they have the same problem with theirs.

I've also entered diagnostic mode recently and did a test on the aftertouch sensitivity.
I had to use my thumb to achieve the full range value!

Aftertouch seems to work just fine when played through Midi from another synth. Must be something about the physical keyboard mechanisms that Roland used for this synth.

yeah... i've noticed that now, but i've tried the new roland xp-30, and you had to press quite hard on it's keyboard too to get a reasonable sound effect.
