I have an A-33 keyboard controller connected to a JV-2080 in my home studio, using Pro Tools LE on a Mac for recording. I am trying to set the channels on the Upper and Lower sections. I want to set Lower to channel 1 and Upper to channel 10. Then, I would play/record keyboard and bass patches on Lower and drum kits on Upper. I have stored a number of piano patch and drum kit addresses in the Patch Memories (I THINK I stored patch kits there; maybe I can't. A question on that later.).

When I try to enter channel 1 into Lower, it refuses to accept it (MIDI/PARAM flashes); so this seems to say that Upper is already on channel 1. I then go to Upper and enter a non-one number; it appears to take it. Then I go back to Lower and it takes 1 OK.....and it appears I can play a piano patch OK. HOWEVER, as soon as I hit another Patch Memory key, I cannot send ANYTHING on Lower....dead on all patch memories. However, when I change to Upper, I can play piano patches. It appears that the Upper channel switches to 1 when I hit a Patch Memory key.

I also appear to be able to play PARTIAL patch kits on Upper. That is, some of the lower keys give me some drum kit sounds, but the middle and upper keys yield no sound.

When I then try to enter channel 1 into Lower, MIDI/PARAM flashes, apparently telling me Upper is on channel 1.

(1) What the heck is going on? I must be doing something dumb.

(2) Can I store Drum Kit addresses in the A-33 Patch Memories? It appears to take the CC00, CC32, and Program Change numbers for JV-2080 Drum Kits ("Rhythm Sets"). Can I store this, or will Patch Memory only accept Patch addresses?

Thanks!
Chris
