Thinking of getting a JP-8. Are they really that rare? What newer type synthe can replicate it's sound? Your input is most gratefully appreciated. Please Zoners, tell me your thoughts about this. Would I be better off getting something else?
Thanks.
Pete

Morph, I think you can find one in the $1000-$1500 range. The Roland JP8000 can pretty much duplicate it...Fran

Ah yes , this person Fran seems to have a very good head on there sholders . I own 3 JUPITER 8s and I also have a JP-8000 and it can reproduce the sound of the JUPITER 8 without any difficulty . The cool thing about the JP-8000 is that it already has MIDI and it can make alot of sounds that you will never make on the JUPITER 8 . If you get a JP-8000 used , you could save your self alot of money and headaches of owning a JUPITER 8 .

Thanks, I was wondering if the modeler would equate it's sound. So you would say it would be a safe shot to go with an 8080 then? (the rack version)

Oh yes , the JP-8080 even has a vocoder built in , the JUPITER 8 could never match that . The JP-8000 and JP-8080 are ALOT more reliable and stable in pitch . It's a very safe machine and it will blow you away .

yupyup that is certainly the way to go.
For now it will be the JP-8080. They sure are a lot more reachable. Way less than ½ the price of what the early type Jupiter 8 went for on Ebay today...a whopping $2325.
Thanks 800dv, Fran
