I'm in the process of buying new midi controllers for live and studio. I notice that this two controllers are in the same price range nowaday. We all know that the A70 has more features and functionality and upgradability. But what makes the A33 be still in the same below $500 range, while the A70 goes down to the same range. Is there something wrong with the A70? Or, the A33 has gain more respect in terms of its semi-weighted keyboard feel. I know that the A33 keyboard does not have aftertouch. Anybody here who had a direct interaction to this two controllers, sales guy or musicians, shed me some light.

Hi, Heyoop
Forget about the A33. The A70 is a bargain!
(Unless Roland put some kind of time bomb in the A70!)

I also got the A70 with JV expansion and I'm very happy with it. I like the keyboard feel much better than the A33. The keys also look much more dorable.

P.S. A70 all the way!!

I also opted for the A-70 over the A-33. The only difference is the A-33 is semi weighted which is nice of your are playing a piano patch, but not so nice for a synth, strings, or organ patch. It is also nice to have the capability of internal sounds. The keyboard is also sturdier, has more controls, and in my opinion flat out performs the A-33 in bang for the buck.

Thanks for all your responses. So, just get A70 and forget the other. Now, I'm planning to connect my JV1010 sound module to A70. If I want to add expansion card to the A70 which one should I get? VE-GSpro? VE-RD1, or JV1? Since I already have JV1010 I don't want to have a duplicated sounds. Is the JV1 sounds the same as in my 1010 except the session board?
