I've seen the excellent Roland piano kr575 here for sale in Israel, and the tone and touch seem just wonderful for me. But I wanted to know if there are any other models that have the same tone and touch or better.
I did not want to be overwhelmed with all the other features on the kr575 and pay for them too.
They also have an hp335 for a bargain price, but it doesn't seem to come even close to the abovementioned in tone and touch.
And if all I was getting was a decent keyboard to practice on I would prefer to get a simple rd-100 which is portable and much cheaper too. But instead of a Steinway concert grand which I always dreamed of having one day but could never afford etc.I get the feeling that I could hardley get closer than a kr575 or the like. Does anyone agree with me? Certainly better in tone and touch than any upright piano?

I've been saying this a lot lately, but check out the Yamaha P80. It'll blow the doors off the Roland RD100. It costs about $1000 US and is very small and light. The best piano sound I've seen in a portable.

Thanks alot for your advice. If I knew there was something decent for $1000, that would be best for me now, pricewise.
But how is the hammer action evenness of touch on the Yamaha P80? Is that also better than Rolands RD 100?
And are the bass notes deep and rich?
I breifly saw a Yamaha here in this country, but it was an incredibly expensive "grand piano" simulation. It was very nice but it would seem that the Roland KR 575 was clearly nicer at about half the price-I thought. So I didn't try to compare other Yamahas with Rolands.
Yamaha and Roland here are in different places.

staylor,

I like the hammer action of Yamaha P80 better than Roland's RD series. RD's PA-4 hammer action tends to be a little bit sluggish (keys bounce back slower) and requires more finger pressure. I personally like the P80 for its light weight and decent piano sounds. However I find the Yamaha S80 also a wonderful 88-key hammer action keyboard with full synth engine and master keyboard controller (Ymaha P80 does not have much master controller features) and its piano sounds are very nice too. S80 is heavy - above 50 pounds and I only use it at my house. I got one under US$1,400 last Christmas and thought that you might want to know.

Yes! P-80s will be arriving here soon. Is p-200 any better in touch or tone?
And are you necesarily saying that s-80 is better in touch/tone?
