Hi,
I just bought a U-220 on Ebay and of course it comes with no manual. I've
figured out alot about how to use it with my Sequencer software on PC, but I
still have many questions.
1. I notice there is an outfit on the web called Alexander Publishing, that
sells a manual for $30. It doesn't say much about what is covered in there.
Is this a good investment in a 10 year old (still serviceable) $125 synth
module??
2. Do I need to get patch management software? If so, what or which?
I will most likely set up 6 voices and leave them that way forever in my
studio. (From what I can glean about this beast, bank switching is limited
to whatever channel you are receiving midi data on for that voice>)
3. I am mainly interested in acoustic instrument sounds, like strings,
brass, saxes, etc. Are there better choices for quality of sounds available
under $400? I really like the U220 sounds for the most part, but there are
times when I think they are not THAT much better than selected ones on my
Yamaha PSR 500. (...er, well sorta.)
Thanks so much for any help you can give me. I'm a trumpet player and
arranger, and not really a technophile. My last synth purchase was a
Technics P30 with only 3 sounds -because they are such goooood ones!- That
should give you an idea where I am coming from. I am using this stuff for
home studio projects using direct to disk recording software from Magix,
whom I highly recommend.
