Synthzone member, good friend and fellow entertainer Bob Lee lost his battle with cancer last night at 7 p.m.. Bob and I have been the best of friends for the past four years, we often provided each other with jobs and I talked with him nearly every evening.

A few months ago he began developing cardiac problems, which resulted in bypass surgery. Shortly after the surgery, from which he quickly recovered, he said he was having problems swallowing and losing his voice. He finally sought medical attention and was diagnosed with a large tumor in his upper chest, one that blocked his esophagus. The tumor was biopsied and came back as malignant. The cancer quickly spread to his liver and other organs.

After a single chemotherapy treatment he was admitted to the VA Hospital in Baltimore where his condition rapidly deteriorated. He was transferred to Gilchrest Hospice Monday, went into a coma and died last night.

Bob performed 250 to 300 jobs a year in the Baltimore Metropolitan area for more than a decade, primarily at nursing homes, assisted living facilities and retirement centers. He also performed for private parties and some nite club work during the time I was privileged to know him. He was a wonderful person, a good friend, and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Gary

I'd likewise like to pass on my condolences...

What a unique bond musicians form, eh? When you work with someone a while you do, I think get to know them on a certain, almost intimate level. Often, its the best the person has to offer...

Gary-You've been a good friend to several SZ-ers...I'm sure Mr. Lee enjoyed your friendship quite a bit...

May he rest in peace...

Gary, knowing it's coming does not help much. Hang in there, and tell his family he'll be missed.

Zoners as many of you may know, I worked music retail for over 20 years. I started selling arranger keyboards in 1988. I 1st met Bob Lee while working at Chuck Levins Washington Music Center in 1996. Bob was a loyal customer of mine for many years. He played my mom's 75 b-day party & we became friends...I am truely sad to hear this news.

Rest In Peace Bob... I'll miss him...
