Does anyone else get the lag between when the key is pressed and when the note sounds on the JV1010? I've had one for about 6 months now, and rarely fiddled with it till yesterday. It doesn't happen on all sounds, and it always happens with a program change to the exp board (60/70's)
This is a drag because i love the organs on the exp board and you can't keep one sustaining thru a patch change - it's resets with the new sound and there is a delay in response. I'm using one midi cable to connect a keyboard to it...and that's it! Simple, right? Any ideas?

If it helps, I performed your experiment - bank change commands to a JV-1010 through sustained pitches - using a sequencer (my computer). I get no delays. However, there is no sustain through the patch change. Of course, since I'm not playing this directly with a keyboard, and since I don't have your expansion board, I'm not sure how helpful I am!

Is it possible for sustains to be held through patch changes with some modules? It's a wonderful idea. Since I'm a sequence-only guy, I've solved this problem through multiple channels and coordinated fade-in/fade-outs, but I'd love to do the B-3 thing! I've heard the E-MU module - it's pretty good . . .

But that's me - it's just like an old guy to want to reproduce his youth through synthesis!

Thanx for the effort. Yes, some modules DO sustain through patch changes. I seem to remember my old voce organ module did. There is a definate delay when I play a rhythm pattern too. I tried using it as a drum sound source, and the beginning of each 1st measure kind of "hic-cups" before settling down.Oh well, more tests.......

You're sure you have Patch remain set on (in the System Ssettings)? Here's the spiel from the parameter reference docs:

Patch Remain (Patch remain switch)
Specifies whether you want the notes that are sounding to remain (ON) or turn off (OFF) when you select a new Patch or Rhythm Set.

* Effects settings change as soon as you switch to a new Patch or Rhythm Set, without being influenced by the Patch Remain setting. Because of this, certain effects settings can cause notes that were until then sounding to no longer be heard, even though Patch Remain has been set to on.
