Hello everybody,

as I'm thinking of 1. giving some people an idea of what my synth's capable of doing (including my neighbours, haha) 2. jamming with other people and 3. finally hearing my synth from something else than my old headphones,

--> I'm thinking of connecting xp60 synth either to my old Yamaha ePiano or to my old HiFi. I'd try connecting it via cables to the AUX IN on the yamaha or to any IN stuff on the HiFi. The only problem is, it would suck to find my synth messed up after turning the whole thing on. Can anybody tell me if this could harm my synth or whether I might just try it out without taking a risk?

Thanx very mucho in advance :-)

The stereo sockets on the back of your keyboard are there for a reason....

You should have no trouble connecting your XP-60 to a Hi-Fi. Just watch the output level of your keyboard, turn down you master volume. Then adjust it to the required amount.
Hi-Fi inputs are designed for a signal level of around -10dBu, your keyboard can generate higher levels, so you could overload your Hi-Fi's inputs, so bare that in mind.
NOTE!! DO NOT USE THE INPUTS MARKED PHONO - You get serious distortion if you do.
Input's for Aux, or Video, or even a spare Tape in should work fine.
You'll need twin 0.25" mono jacks for your stereo output from your XP-60, make sure the cable is screened, and the lead should terminate with phono connectors for your amp.

If you need additional help, just ask.
The keyboard cannot get messed up by connected anything out of it. MIDI in that's different......
Perhaps it's time to start looking for a small mixing desk!

Hey, thanx very much!
Now I feel better. So I think I'll just go ahead and get these cables, and then I'll try it out.
Speaking of MIDI, I only have one synth, so that's something for the future, but I'll keep that in mind anyway.
Well, I'm going to write once I've tried that thing out.

Thank you for the advice (also the hints concerning the cables!)

See you,
XPert
