I'm very new to the whole midi thing, so please bear with me. I have an XP60, SBLive, & Cubase VST24. With the midi out on my XP connected to the in on my soundcard, how do I get the sounds from the keyboard going? Basically the keyboard is acting simply as a controller and playing the VST sounds. Whereas I want to play the sounds from my Roland. How do I do this? Yeah, I'm a newbie to midi, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks all.

I don't know so much about CUBASE but I figure your problem lies around your selection of midi devices. The Creative Labs "midi-mapper" may redirect your MIDI_OUT to an internal source.

You need to change "midi_mapper" to look at the MIDI_OUT on your SB card OR change the setting in CUBASE to do this.

Just look for MIDI_OUT somewhere. You'll work it out eventually.
