Last week I bought a JV1010...great device... and I installed the Sounddiver 2.0 on my notebook. After making the cable for RS232 and fixing some problems with COM1 everything worked fine. Today I found on EMAIGC Homepage the new Sounddiver 3.0 Upgrade, I installed it and first everything worked fine. After my MS-Windows crashed, nothing of the stuff worked anymore. Maybe that during the crash some wrong was written to the JV1010, cause I did a Download at that time. Now my question... Are there any tricks e.g. with special settings of the front knobs before turning Power On to make a very deep reset or to reset the commport of the JV1010 or to make a system test (maybe you know the settings for OS-Update, I found it on the Roland Homepage). By the way, who can I check the OS-Version in the JV1010.

Hello,I am sorry I can not answer your question,in fact I have a problem that is driving me crazy and I was hoping you may be able to help me.I have an xp 30 and I can't make it work through the serial port.It works only one way,I can play songs from the cubase but I can not control it from the xp.Also the sound diver gives me a message "the device not ready","xp didt react" etc.I reaaaaly don't know what to do and I have lots of work .It is holding me back. Please tell me all the right settins on the xp and the computer, com ports, software, also if the mouse on com 2 affects the flow anything.Forever gratefull if you do that.Thank you.
oh no...it is absolutly the same problem as I have...playing songs is ok, but receiving messages from the JV1010 does not work. Meanwhile I checked com Port (38400 must be set), cable, I also loaded the new OS Version found on Roland homepage, but nothing works. And I don't know how to set transmit and receive channel with the front knobs. Please "I need a little help from my friends"...
yes people - just like to point out i get the same problem with my 1010 via serial.. ive tried different COM ports, different cables, everything. i saw a PDF on the rolandUS website about changing the value of the recieve buffer (rx buffer) on the driver control panel but i havent a clue what its going on about..... can anyone out there help...

Since we're talking about COM computer ports, I'd say you should look into your computer's operating system. The JV's OS is bound to be a great deal more robust than anything coming from Microsoft, so check system and multimedia settings first. The reset for the JV-1010 is well-described in it's documentation, which is on the Roland website.
Until my latest interface solution, I was simply using an adapter cable through my sound card's game port, and never had a problem with communication. Of course, I wasn't terribly interested in anything the JV-1010 wanted to say to me!

By the way, meanwhile I tried another PC and I updated to serial Driver Version 3.1....same result. By the way, believe me I'm and engineer and IT specialist. If I say, I tried everything possible, I tried :-) I also checked the COM1 with the serial Interface of my Korg NX5R and voila...this thing works! If Roland is not able to deliver the same solution as Korg then...

PS.: Today I will send my Roland JV1010 back to the german representative of Roland for testing. I'll keep you informed, what they say!

Hi Gerhard, i just stumbled about your last year message regarding the problems with receiving data from the JV-1010. Have the same problem and tried all the same things like changing cables, COM settings, drivers etc. No success at all. Did you get back any useful information from ROLAND to overcome this problem ?
Any help is appreciated. Thomas (also from Germany)
