Just purchased a JV-1010. Love it (my first professional piece of gear). I went back to the store to buy the cable. They sold me one made by Yamaha telling me it would work. It hasnt. I installed the driver, but I noticed in Windows 98 controll panel that and there is no mention of serial ports in my machiene although I certainly have them.

Another question. When the cable is connected can the module still recieve midi data from the regular midi in jack. It doesnt seem to.

Any advice for a this or any other advice for a starting musician (in the classical/new age genre) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Correct, your choice serial OR midi, not both

Win98 should show your com ports in Control Panel unless they are disabled in the BIOS.
