OK! I've downloaded OS version 1.02 for JV1010 and tried to update using Cubase 5.
After the first sequence, the midi recieve- flash stops and change to patch.
Is this supposed to happen, or are there something wrong?
Also, how do I know what OS version my JV1010
have?

PLZ help out......

Antabus, it happened the same to me; I thought it might be because I was using the Serial interface when transmitting the midi files via the Windows Media Player, so I thought about trying it at a later time (and I haven't done it yet!).

I have no idea of which version my JV 1010 had, nor of which one it has now.

So I am in the same case as you. Please help us !! :-)

Well, the OS.zip included a readme file whitch I followed step by step. There were
15 short sequences all in all. As said
before, after transmitting the first one, it all stops...

yes ive had this. roland told me not to use something like cubase / logic to play
the OS files in as this can be unreliable, but to try using the sequencing program of
their own which you can download on their site. i found one called 'singer songwriter'
which is only a demo and as a result cant even load midi files - so thats not much use.

Hey sav,

Roland US provides a small utility to play OS files, called "PC SMF Update Application" (pretty name, huh?) You can download at roland site:
ftp://ftp.rolandus.com/pub/roland/libdata/MISC/SMFPLAYR.ZIP
Also there is a Mac version available, called MidiGraphy Application (where Roland gets these names?)
ftp://ftp.rolandus.com/pub/roland/libdata/MISC/MIDIGRAPHY%20Folder.sea.hqx

thanks mgomes. have you updated the os on a 1010 by using this program? it seems the program will recognize all the OS files apart from 9, 10 and 11 which it wont display in the window

I do have 1010 also, but what are the benefits of updating the OS? Is it worth doing it? What are some changes? Thanks.
