I plan to purchase Freestyle over Cubase Score, as I understand it will help me, a newbie songwriter, to start out with a simpler, and most importantly, more instinctive software. I understand it is much more limited than Cubase, but it sounds like what I have been looking for. They say it approaches notation from a songwriters POV and not a technician. I would greatly appreciate any insights / comparisons. Thanks

Let us know how that works out. I'm also using a more traditional score-writing application to generate MIDI - Noteworthy Composer. It has recently added quite a few clickable MIDI controls, but I'm sure it's a lot more like Freestyle than Cubase.

I'd love to know what advantage the more expensive packages like Cubase or Cakewalk Pro have to offer. Noteworthy was $39.
