Hi guys,

I am working on a recording using the sequencer of my XP60 with my Roland VS1680 recorder.

The recorder is outputting tempo map via midiclock and the good old XP just trundles along in perfect time (the song is in 6/8 in case this proves relevant).

I want to take edit two bars out of the whole piece: removing all the other instruments currently on the VS, plus what's on the XP sequence.

So, I cut those two bars from the VS using track cut.

Then I cut those same two bars on the XP using track delete.

There's nothing fancy about the edit - it's simply the whole of bar 143 and 144 (measures in this song correspond precisely between the two machines).

When I play back the VS, all is as I would expect: all instruments disappear and come back precisely where they should – the percussion never skips a beat.

But when I play back the XP using midiclock from the VS again, it's out of sync with the VS from the point of the edit.

It sounds like it's running half a beat or a beat late.

Now why would that be do you suppose? And what can I do about it?!

Thanks for any advice,

Martin

OK - fixed it! Just for interest(?) the problem was that I had a tempo change in the tempo map. I had cut bars out of the song, but had forgotten to move the tempo change point - so the sequencer was slowing down where it shouldn’t have been.

Phew!
