I dowloaded the INS file and imported it into cakewalk . I can choose the xp60 patch I wish to play but still , what I hear is still the GM instrument corresponding to the patch number .
Any idea ?

I've no idea what a INS file is.
But if your playing back MIDI data into your XP-60 and it's picking a GM patch instead of the one selected I'm assuming it's because the file as bank select, and program change messages inside it.
You might be able see this in an event list, and to filter these out with Cakewalk.
