Yo,

In cubase, go to options>midi filter and MAKE SURE that there is NO check mark next to the sysex box in the record column.

Go to the main arrange page, make a midi track, and set the channel to 'any'.

Go to the 1080, press 'utility', then 'data transfer', then choose what kind of sysex you want to send and where you want to send it (to midi, of course).

In Cubase, press the 'enter' key to start the sequencer, then press the '*' key to start the recording. while cubase is recording, press the 'execute' button on the 1080.

Oh, before I forget, make SURE that there is a cable between the midi out of the 1080 and the midi in of the computer interface, or else the info from the synth will be going nowhere....

On the transport bar of cubase, you should see the little red 'in' light flash. When the light permanently stops flashing, press the spacebar to stop recording, and you should have a really long part. Select it and press ctrl-g to list edit it, and you should see a zillion little sysex events there.....

Good luck!

Nick
