The sliders on the new T3 are not really well implemented. Yes, you can adjust the volume of any voice part, whether in the right hand, left hand, style or midi. BUT, you can only do so by going into mixer and all these parts are on different pages.
This is no where near as good as the Korg sliders. My pa1X allows me to use the sliders to adjust upper 1, 2 and 3 along with the style bass, drums and percussion all easily at your finger tips without paging through menus. On my new T3, you can never be on a page that will allow you to adjust all those parameters all together.
These are the volumes you need to control the most. But, if you are on the mixer page to control R1,2 or 3, you can not control any parts of the style volume from that page. You must change to a different page in the mixer to get to the style volume parts for the sliders to control. And, that has to be done with repeated button pushes, You can not cycle back and forth between the two pages easily and directly. The Mixing Console Panel Part (R1, 2 and 3) is follwed by the Mixing Console Style Part (style volumes) but it follows with Mixing Console Song Channel parts 1-8 and then Mixing Console Song Channel 9-16. So you have to do a lot of button pushing to cycle thorugh all four pages.
When you are on the Mixing Console page, you can not see what voices are being used for the R1,2 and 3 parts. You wouldn't want to change the OTS while on the Mixing page or you have no idea what R1 will come up (unless you check it out in advance).
All of the Yamaha sliders should be made so they can be assignable to any part, if you wish, and they will hold that assignment. That's how the Korg sliders work and they are much more useful. The T3 has only one slider that is assignable and there are only about 10 things that you can assign to it. For me, none of them are really very useful. It can be assigned as follows: Off, Keyboard Volume, Harmony Volume, Song Volume, MultiPad Volume, Hard Disk Player Volume, Mic Volume, Mic Reverb Depth, and Vocal Harmony Balance. So even the assignable slider can not be permanently assigned to say, drums. I think Yamaha could vastly improve this.
