Sorry to offend those who have been offended by my thread title. But have any of you seen or heard about te new synth/workstation? I saw some pictures, a review and a spec sheet all on the Harmony-Central website (www.harmony-central.com).

One thing that has improved is the larger screen. But there's less dedicated buttons. The sequencer has been re-worked. Also, there are no sliders. What about expansion (which was Roland's big selling point). ONly one SRJV card and two SRX slots!! What's going on here. Also, you can't load in samples like the XV5080!!!

I don't know about you all, but I'm glad I purchased a Roland S760. I'll be hanging on to my Roland XP60 and S760 for a long time.

The Infamous Epu.

hey Epu,
I know how you feel.but for me the fantom Sux in Part and very good in other parts!.

-IT SUX!...in that their is "no sampling",no Number buttons to call your sounds fast!,no samples can be loaded in the keyboard,TWO SRX and only "one"(wtf) SR-JV!,and the biggest of all is they only made it 64 polyphonic!.what was Roland thinking when they made it 64 polyphonic?I know that Roland is just coping Yamaha and Korg.but guys the Korg Triton can be Expanded in it's Polyphonic by the moss and may be they will bring a board just like the MOSS that have a 64 polyphonic which will make thier keyboards 128polyphonic! . the Motif can be Expanded up to "256"POLYPHONIC! by their Synth cards!.that's their reason for both companies making their flagship 62!. how will Roland Expand that!.don't tell me OS! because with Roland it's in you dreams!.so let's just say that since it's 64 and about 80% of the sounds uses 4 voices theirfor we with all proudness have....16 polyphonic!(UN believable).

-IT'S GOOD...that it have all the XV-5080 Engine and sounds.it have the MC-80 composer on it too(very good Roland nice to see you guys think!).and have Digital out puts(WOW)....and that's about it!

so as you can see guys the bad beats the Good so Roland Suxed very badly now, not just in their Workstations but also the VA-76 thing which is Useless in Live performance!.

Hey, Vic. Were you refering to those VA arrangers? such as the VA-5 and VA-7, etc...? 'Sigh', glad I purchased the XP-80 rather than the VA-5 (It 'fits' me more than anything else).

I honestly thought Roland would bring out something to make the Triton and Motif shit themselves- THEY HAVEN'T IMHO.

Im glad I have my much more expandable XV3080 coupled with as far as I'm concerned much more flexible Triton! Just IMHO.

Ditto! I just got an XV-5080 and have a Motif 8 on order. I heard about the Fantom before my XV-5080 came in and thought about cancelling both orders before I saw the specs.

I was interested in the new rhythm generator and sequencer but the low polyphony, lack of expandibility (I already had 3 JV boards from my XP-50)and sample playback was an absolute deal killer for me. Too bad Roland only got it half right...
