Did anybody here attend the NAMM convention and hear or check out this sound module? How is it compared with other brand in this class or with Roland SC880, JV1080/2080.

Actually, the 1010 is a cheaper 'remake' of the 1080, it lacks a display and editing on the device itself (only possible with a PC). Futhermore, it has only one expansion slot. I am the happy owner of a 1080, and I wouldn't wan't to sacrifice a display and the realtime editing possibilities of the 1080 (or 2080). The sound quality is actually the same, so that doesn't make a difference. The SC 880 has an entirely different tone-stucture which is the same as the famous Sound Canvas series. If you don't need editing, just al hack of a lot of sounds, go for it. Otherwise I would choose a 1080 or 2080. A 1080 may be even cheaper if you buy it secondhand.

Have luck!

Look on Roland's website for info on the 1010. Yes, for not that much more money, a 1080 would be immensely superior, I think.
