whoa!

i see a lot of gurus when it comes to keyboards and synths, so i'm hoping to find some real help here.

well, here's da deal: i'm looking for a good keyboard, yet i'm not really looking for a way to become broke AGAIN. My main problem is money, for as much as i would like to get all those great techno toys, they cost too damn much! Yet for some time now, I've had my eye on ROLAND XP-80. That bitch is expecive, and the ONLY keyboard dealer in town, doesn't really have much else that fits me as well. I own a YAMAHA CLAVINOVA that I use primarily for all the acoustic sounds, and unlike many people here, I don't have a SCSI controller of any kind, yet I manage to get by with my tracker-based computer program which surpasses anything else I've ever seen, and clavinova. I want to buy an AKAI sampler later on, so I don't care for the sampling capabilities of either TRITON or ROLAND, and the only thing I pretty much care for are the sounds that are synthetic. I'm looking for a library of instruments with phat analogue sounds, hopefully something more than just bass, but a few electronic pads, etc. Something that would be used by Jean Michel Jarre, for that is the music that i write.

So, tell me if I can get a great keyboard, for CHEAPER PRICE, with the same great library of preset intruments along with deep synth functions...

Well, since you already have a computer program, why not just get an XP30 instead.

This board goes for $999 or as low as $799 at most stores and alread has three expansion boards pre-installed. Out of the box, you already have near 1600 sounds.

Furthermore, it can be expanded with two more expansion boards. You should get the Vintage Synth SR-JV80-04 board. This has lots of synthetic sounds that are reminiscent of Jarre. When you add those two up, you shouldn't have put down more than $950-$1100.

Look on Ebay for better deals. I hope I've helped.

I agree with epu..
xp30($949) and vintage syth board($199) will fit your bill in terms of money and sound.
