Steve,
That was quiet impressive. Before that song became an mp3, was it a MIDI file? Or was atleast some of it played back on a sequencer? I am new to the MIDI world but through the use of a computer and some software (MIDI Orchestrator Plus) I'm able to create multi-track midi files. I didn;t think the xp-30 or the Alesis QS8 had a disk drive. So tell me how you created the mp3 if you would?

Thanks Steve.

It was a very cool track. That could work well in a club or even at my gym. Folks there like a steady driving beat.

Hi RW,

Thanks for checking it out.

I use Cakewalk Pro Audio, which is a computer based sequencer for midi and audio. What I do is record each track as midi first then record the synth into the computer. I use to use multitimbral (where you use different midi channels for each sound) setups for midi before, but now I just record the track in as audio and don't fiddle with midi channel setup. I do one track at a time. I've been playing with keyboards since 91 and it did take a little while to figure things out, but now it is easy. I just wish I could get better synths.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi! I also love the music you've got on mp3.com. Can I just ask, how do you record as audio? Do you just play next to a microphone or something? And which program do you use when recording as audio? I also use cakewalk, but I'm having problems getting my synth to play more than one channel back at a time.

Hey HelpJunkie,

If you have a computer, a decent soundcard, and some free hard drive space you shouldn't have to worry about working with more then one channel. Recording with a microphone would be too noisy. All you have to do is connect the line out of your synth to the line in on your sound card. Then set a track in Cakewalk to record the line in from your soundcard. This may take a little time to figure out, but it is well worth the effort because audio sequencing is way more powerful then midi sequencing. Oh and I use the E-MU APS sound card. Which has great audio quality, but I would not recommend it because it is old now and you can get a better soundcard for the money.
