Has anyone decrypted XP-60/80 files? I would like to be able to edit them with my PC, but I'm not sure what format the files are in. Is there commercial software of freeware out there? If someone has decrypted the files, and I wrote software to edit them, would you be interested in a copy?

Hey TDN. This is easy. Just save your files as a .MID file. Your file sill automatically be saved as a TYPE 1 SMF file. Any computer software should be able to read this.

.MID is standard on all PC and MAC platforms I believe.

Yes, epu, you are right. But it might be that the format tdn is interested in has more possibilities than the .MID format. For example, I did what he asks with some Korg file formats, because I was then able to use less memory and load songs faster thanks to the use of patterns.

After a lot of work I discovered that the file format was exactly the SysEx format with a 16-byte header... and the SysEx format was perfectly documented in the manuals. Anyway, it was a satisfying work. Hint: Could it be that the file format is very similar to the SysEx format? It is probable, because the designer will tend t process as less information as possible.. and use for propietary formats things like raw memory dumps with headers. That's what Korg designers did... Why not Roland?
