I have Roland XP-80 that I have been using and doing sequences for 3 years now. My sequences are very much dependent on performance settings. This is how I have made the songs...

I will just save the whole song as .svq (song + performance) mode (program changes, or such data).
This way, everytime I load the song, the whole performance with its effect and other settings is loaded. I know it is wrong, but it works perfectly fine as long as you remain within XP-80 !!

I am now using Calkwalk Pro Audio 9 with a laptop. Planning to sell XP-80 and get JV-2080 and A-70. This way I will
be skipping the XP-80 sequencer.

I played my sequences on XP-80(master) and saved them on Cakewalk(slave). Performance gave me hard time... so I dumped the
SYSEX to cakewalk. This way the cakewalk loads the song, and the SYSEX is sent to XP-80 to setup the performance. Works Great !!

My question is....
The SYSEX (performance) data is sent by XP-80 to the sequencer. Now if I remove XP-80 and use JV-2080 to play long the sequencer... will it recognize and load the same performance and settings ?

(JV-2080 and XP-80 have same sounds and performance parameters, I beleive)

Is there a way of saving XP-80 performances on a sequencer via SYSEX
and loading it in JV-2080?

ummm.........not entirely sure as the 2080 has more FX busses than the XP80 so it may not work entirely as the XP80 may not send a message to disable the other FX bus(ses?).

Hi,

The JV-2080 and XP-80 are totally Patch and Performance compatible, with the exception of the JV-2080s three EFX. Since you are going "up" to the 2080, this is of no concern to you though.
