Maybe I'm crazy or something, but do you think that the Gate Reverb on the Xp sucks big time. I think so.

I was trying to create an 80s like rhythm track. I used the individual rhytmn key effect send to the Gate Reverb effect. No matter what sound or tone I use, I get a very untrue spring reverb like effect.

I have a Roland VS840 which has great effects. When I dial up a Gated Reverb patch there, everything sounds great. There are better more sensible attributes to the algortihms on the VS as well.

Now I know I could easily use the [Direct Out]s on my XP to route the snare drum sound to the VS, but I'd rather mix everything diwn on my XP so I only have to make a stereo recording of my XP work.

The question is, am I doing something wrong regarding the Gate Reverb sound on the XP, or does the Gate Reverb sound on the XP generally suck?

yeah epu, I've noticed this too. The Gate Reverb doesn't really work well on the drums. It works okay on other instruments though. There is a nasty springy sound that happens when you use one shot samples such as drums. There is not much control on the release time and sustain time of the gate.

I would use the VS if I were you for this application.
