Hi all

There has been much discussion about the "decay noise" problem of th XP/JVs on this board. Some people have claimed that this is caused by cheap components from Roland, others that the samples are of inferior quality..

Well, for those of you planning on changing your XP/JVs in synths from other manufacturers: think again.

I just tested a brand new Korg Karma today. The result: Exact the same decay noise as my XP-60. Not worse, but not better either! I know from before that several other keyboards suffer from the same problem.

I suspect that this issue has been in all digital synths at all times, but has only been discovered recently.

Myself, I don't consider it a real problem..

Well it's not a new problem, that's for sure.
Roland's D series where very noisy.

I've a JV-880, and a JD-990. I do not notice it, but I've heard the "decaying effect" on CD's as they fade to nothing.
I suspect it's people having a go at Roland just for the sake of it.

The difference here is that Korg MAILED Karma buyers to notify them, and set up a HUGE return and fix customer service package.

Everyone with Karma decay problems are noe getting them fixed. No one had to go to Korg.

Korg realized the problem, and made the recall/repair a NON-HASSLE.

Roland on the other hand m would rather ignore people, call them stupid and lie about the problem.

Arvon45:

The Karma I am refering to, is of the second production batch. The first Karmas produced had a problem that was fixed, but the one I tested is not one of these. It is a standard production machine, with no fix or upgrade planned..

Test for yourself. You have a Triton don't you? Would like to hear the results from that test..

Stig-

Korg has allowed for all Karma's with this problem to be taken in and fixed for free. It's as simple as that. If you have the problem, it will be fixed.

As for the Triton, it doesn't have this problem at all. Pure and clean.
