I have the Roland VK8M and am very happy with the B3 and leslie effects. Does anyone know if the Roland E80 has the VK8M built in? I have listened to E80 demos and the leslie effect when changing speeds does not sound that good (compared to the VK8M). I am not able to find any E80 demos of the slow leslie with chorus effect to see how close that is to the VK8M. I also can't find an E80 at any of the local shops so I am somewhat stuck.

So, how close is the E80 B3/Leslie sound to the VK8M?

Yes, the E80 has a drawbar section based on the VK8 engine. I have a G70 and previously owned a VR-760. The drawbar on the VR was better than on the G70. The G70, and I assume the E80, do not have the same chorus/vibrato engine that is used on the VK itself. If that is a biggie for you, then be forewarned. The Leslie sim is great. The drawbar section of my G70 - supposedly the same as the E80 - is excellent. Besides my Hammond XK-1 I have yet to hear a competitor clone sound as good the Roland VK engines. If you already have the VK8, don't let that stop you from getting an E80 because the rest of the keyboard is phenomenal too. Having the Hammond and the G70 gives me an opportunity to have a double keyboard drawbar section if I choose.
