Hi all-

I read on this site that a 19th board called 'guitar and drums' will be released.

I contacted Roland Australia and they had no idea of any such release!! Actually I was told it could even be an untrue rumour!!!!

If this is the case, can I just ask 1 question-

Are some net users out there so bored with their lives that they wish to spin crap on sites such as this just for a thrill???? To these people I say- GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!

Anyway, if it is true that Roland will be releasing such a board, please respond with any further information as I have a spare slot in my XV3080 just begging to take such a board!!!!

Well remember, I am the one who "started" that thread here on the BBS. I told you that I heard some Sam Ash and Muzic Center employees talking about it. Those stores are at least 20 miles apart, so I figured that there had to be some truth in it.

Also, people were talking about this on another recording site (I believe it was homerecording.com).

I really do hope these rumors are true. I would be the first in line to buy such a board. More so, I'm more interested in that SRJV80-20 Sammple ROM Expansion Board. That sounds real good.

All we can do is pray Korgasm. I also heard someone else on this BBS say something about one of these boards.

Hey EPU- I hope you didn't think I was implying my above comments towards you! I certainly wouldn't as you seem the sort of person who wouldn't do such things as spread false rumours.

This has however happened on the net before! I must say that one big disadvantage of finding out info on the net is that often it seems that the information is so preliminary that even if a product is being announced, it is so far off that by the time it is released, you have already gone and bought something else.

Here in Australia, we are a bit behind when it comes to getting new products on to our shores.

For example, Steinberg have announced Cubase VST version 5 but it wont be available for another few months. Emagic have announced Logic Audio 4.5- it was supposedly to appear after May 1st this year but it doesn't seem to have made an appearance yet! Yamaha have already been touting their (awesome looking on paper anyway!) AW4416 hard disk recorder. I'm busting to check one of these puppies out but some music shops in Australia don't even seem to know that such a product is in the pipeline (?).

I believe that companies are announcing their product releases way too early just 'to be the 1st kids on the block!'- so those who are so inclined may wait (just a little bit longer) and buy their product rather than their opponents product! This kind of practise by our manufacturers is pointless and stupid IMHO! I wish they would simply hold off such announements until they are sure that the product or software update is definetly ready for release.

Anyway, just my 2 cents worth! Cheers.

Trust me when I say this, but the USA gets the same thing when it comes to lateness in products. Companies like Roland tend to test their products elsewhere before releasing it in the USA.

Examples of this being the Roland VS840GX and VS890. Those were introduced in Feburary. We won't get them until October!

Same with Europe, that little continent at the end of the world :-)

Before the XV was just presented over here, people over there (your place) already started talking of "getting an XV soon". On the other hand, a European soudn designer was on presentation tour for the XV, so we don't have a shortage in Roland people offering test keyboarder jobs I suppose.

hi, I'm quite new in this businez with expensionboards. I am the "luckely" owner of an XP30. If it is the truth that there WILL come a board20 with sample possibilities, can it also be added in my xp30?? and how does it work? can you just load samples from your comp. to the card and then load it up to the synth???
THAT would indeed be great, for a simple synth like the xp30 series!!!

I work at a music store and I haven't heard of a Guitar and Drums board. I don't think they'd do that combination since they have Bass and Drums

I would definitely buy an expansion board with excellent quality guitar sounds (both electric and acoustic). Also Roland needs to develop a board with excellent brass and saxaphone sounds

I think Roland officials should be issued with little bags of salt so you can take a pinch of it with everything they say - a while back I asked Roland UK about when they were going to release a new line of synths, and was told they were not planning on doing so any time in the near future. A month later the XV range was announced.

I expect they have plenty more expansion cards in the pipeline, but they're just keeping quiet for now.

Hi,

It also shows how roland employers don't really mingle with the crowd on support sites like mine for example..

I called Roland alot and they generally have a "no trespassing" kind of mentality regarding new things..
