Home users, the arrangers target market, much more realistic then the hyped up manufacture demos. (As anyone ever managed to get there board sounding like a manufacture demo yet)

Only downside is like most Yamaha users, he over uses the shaker trumpet. (Drives me up the wall)

Thanks for posting

Regards

Bill

It's not fair to compare these two keyboards this way. Two different songs played by two different players which were recorded with two different video cams. It's just like comparing apples with peaches.

No, i mean real players who have the same level and play the same song on different keyboards.

There aren't much YouTube video's which can match these requirements for a (more)equal comparison.

When all is said & done the S900 is still the BEST bang for the buck hands down!

I will duck now

I'm a home non-pro user/hobbyist that has a 3 tier rig that includes E50, PA500, and PSR3000. Each has some benefits over the other. Yamaha, the styles, song finder-as long as you change the names of all the songs, some sweet, and live sounds, and full brass sounds when left hand layered over syles, Roland, organ sounds when left hand layered, also the unit sounds more like a live band with some styles, some guitars, and synth patches. The PA500 is my newest board, and I like a lot of the individual sounds, but don't use many of the styles yet. As owning all 3 brands, if I had to reccommend one brand to someone that was going to play cover songs-out it would be Yamaha because it has the easiest learning curve, and gives you lots of workable material right out of the box. I don't think there is one brand that is hands down better in sounds, styles, playability, and ease of use than the others. But I would agree that Yamahas do have a lot of things going for it. I would miss my Korg, and Roland units if I ever got rid of them. Just like even though I have a Motif in house I miss a SY-35 synth I had but sold several years ago because of an original song I made with it that I just can't duplicate (vector synthesis) with any other equipment...just my opinion/take

I'm gonna have to agree even though I'll take flack from many ...As a full time 40+yr pro I've intensely performed with many of today's & past arrangers since their inception but always return to Yamaha units for their great sound/styles & ease of use. Sure they have some downfalls which are mostly personal preference & need workaround to make it work "FOR ME".
But IMO across the board they can't be beat. Playing at home vs performing in the trenches day after day is another ballgame & Yamaha steps up to the plate every time.

Happy Holidays

Both excellent instruments at their price point, IMO. I had a play about both in a local store quite recently, and the Roland would still edge ahead for me on user interface. Not a slight against the Yamaha in any way, simply a matter of personal preference.
