I finally got my XV-88 and love it! At the risk of finding out that I am overlooking something very obvious, I could use some help on the following.

In the Roland 2000 New Product Video there is a segment that demonstrates the XV-88, the Roland guy playing the XV-88 demonstrated what he called a factory pre-set called 'Steel Guitar'. He was able to show off 3 velocity characteristics and the aftertouch characteristic of this patch.

Soft playing = Guitar Harmonics
Medium playing = Normal Guitar sound
Hard playing = A guitar slide effect
Aftertouch = bent guitar note

The Problem I need help with:: I have only found 2 patches that might match the one the Roland guy demonstrated - called XV SteelGtr1 and XV SteelGtr2.

I can duplicate soft and medium playing ( harmonics and normal guitar sound ) but no slide effect when playing hard and no bent note aftertouch. I have tried reseting the keyboard to factory defaults but that still doesn't make it work.

Has anyone else found a Steel Guitar sound that matches what I described in the Roland Video? If so - maybe you can help me figure out if I have something wrong with my XV.

Thanks

The "XV SteelGtr1" should give you the slide effect. Make sure you're hitting the key hard enough; it takes a pretty good strike. Maybe try adjusting the key sensitivity.

The "XV SteelGtr2" does not have the slide effect. However, another one to try is "DoubleSteel" (User 062); it has similar characteristics to SteelGtr1.

Two others to try are "Comp'Steel" and "Folk Guitar" (Presets F 035 and 037 respectively). These ones don't have the guitar harmonics but do have the slide.

I hope this helps.
