Well I finally got me hands on a Tyros 3 this afternoon. I’m just going to go into my thoughts of what I think about the T3 vs T2 vs.S900. There are plenty of other posts on synthzone in the differences between the T2 & T3.

T3 vs T2: I find that there are very similar boards. The majority of the styles on T3 are from T2. The voices are similar with the exception of the few SA2 voices and some others that I noticed with different names. The drums are eq better. I think that it’s a great board. But (Me, myself & I) feel that the jump from a T2 to a T3 is not worth spending 3,999.00 since they are very very similar.

T3 vs S900
There are bigger improvements between the two and I think the jump from an s900 to a T3 will be more bang for the buck. But since I own s900, I find it to suit my needs and the additional features on the T3 will not make a big difference for me.

I find that the missing additional styles that are not on the S900 from the T2 can always be added via usb. So you can come close to a T2 as far as styles. Not sure about voices.

I think for me spending $4k + will be best suited to a different keyboard so I’m buying something fresh and different.

I will have to agree with some other posters here, that the T3 could have been released a couple years from now and the T2 could have stayed in production longer. I not sure if the SA2 voices could have been a software upgrade for T2, but I think that should have happened. The T3 would have been more bang for the buck if the boards was completely redon with new styles and more SA2 voices.

I would have to agree I would not pay $4000 for a T3. That is not to say I would not choose it before any other arranger out there becasue I did and would not trade it for anything out there. I enjoy mine but would not have paid even $3500 for it over the T2. I don't think any Arranger keyboard is worth $3500 though. Many are not paying that much. T2s can be still had new for $2600. Now THAT is a great deal.

I agree $2600 or less on some places is well worth the money and the differences I don't think warrants the additional $1400 for a T3.

I came to a similar conclusion after my hands-on session with a T3 last week .

The 3 is a tough sell when 2s are still plentiful in the supply chain and subject to such savage discounting.

I agree with you there Donny. The T2's sales were doing quite well.. What I found confusing is that (from how I see it) the upgrade from the T2 to the T3 is much like the upgrade from the PSR-2000 to 2100. Just doesn't seem worth the extra money IMO to upgrade from the 2 to the 3. I think it's odd they used the Tyros line for that this time.

I f Could not get a T3 for 10% under cost I would be playing happily on the S900 and bought an M3, FAntom or XS. For it is about getting the MIDI information of the styles into Sonar then rerouting them to the best voices I can get. Currently much of it goes back to the T3. But sine MY WIFE TOOK THE RD700 on a gig last night I m realizing I need a PERMANENT 88 weighted board........

Korg, Yamaha, RolandHere we go again........
