I just got the xp-60 the other week and when I listened to it through an amp i noticed when the notes are dying out they are acompanied by a distorted noise. This particularily apparant on the higher notes.
Please check and see if your keyboard does this, and give me ideas of what I can do abou it.

Thanks

I don't have ths Xp-60, but this problem appears on my JV-2080 also. It exists in some
of the earlier version of the instrument but not in the later one. There are some previous
post in the BBS concerning this problem. Check them out.

This is a well known problem that Roland refuses to acknowledge.

After I bought the xp I had 30 days to return it, so I gave Roland the benefit of the doubt, hoping they would acknowledge the problem and repair it.

Not only did they pretend it didn't exist, but the customer service was totally rude.

I was very polite with Roland customer service, I don't know what their deal was.

I asked If could speak with the manager, and the guy on the phone told me " no, because it's December".

I then told him that several other people online had discussed this issue. He told me " people on the internet are stupid".

Needless to say, I took the xp-60 back and got store credit. A played around with some synths for awhile, and took a Korg Triton home two weeks later.

I had a 2080, the explaination I got was the synths output is converted at 18bits, true of the XP60/80/30 not the XP50/JV1080 (which are 16 bit) this produces sample aliasing, distortion problems as the sample calculations are converted from the synths internal resolution to a different one. I dont understand totally, but the 2080 etc are clearer in the output but produce this god, damn annoying problem. Dont bother, Roland wont help, get a XV3080/5080 and feel ripped off like I did!

I did some experimenting and found that the 1080. and xp-50 do NOT have this problem.

THe xp-30.60,80,and 2080 do have it.

Also the Xv series doesn't have it either.

The converters on the xp 50 and 1080 are of a much higher quality.

Who knows what shortcuts Roland took on the XV series.

I dont think they have, unless they are stupid. My 5080 seems to sound perfect on the outputs, which it should do for that amount of money

I've owned a JV1080, JV2080, XP80, XP30, XV5080. Of those, the JV2080 had a terrible problem with this - I sold it and got an XP80 and it didn't have any trouble.

All Roland synths have a noise gate that operates and you can hear it if you listen really close.

Even my XV5080 has noise while the note is playing (imagine that :-) but you can hear the noise gate close off.

I called roland about my JV2080 and they gave a lame excuse, better DACs blah blah blah, yeah right, higher quality converters sound worse - I don't think so.

I think they just screwed up something in the JV2080 and XP60. I don't hear this problem in my XP30.

So from what the Roland quoted that the Sounds from JV-2080 are much cleaner than the 1080 is a joke. $%^ RRR.........
