When I play my 3K and midi files, which are in my 3K, at a loud volume no problem.
When I play my mp3's which are in my computer, which is going into my 3k, I get distortion even at a medium volume.
Now I know it's possible that all the mp3's could be distorted since I got most of them from the internet...."free", but all of them?

I want to go thru and listen to all of the mp3's, at least the first couple of measures, but my question is, is there some kind of
meter that I can plug my computer into an check the levels without burdening my ears?

I want to mention I also use a little device which Gary recommended that boasts the volume of the laptop. I changed the batteries in that
and there is no change. This device plugs into my laptop and I come out of that going into my 3K.

Would anyone have any other Ideas?

Thanks

Peter

I'm pretty sure the problem was in that little device that I use to boast the volume. I changed the two AA batteries in this little unit and I still got distortion. When I disconnected the device and played the mp3's there was no distortion.
So, I check it on a gig this week end and I'll know for sure.

Also, Eddie, btweengigs, suggested using a program call MP3Gain which is free. This program takes all your mp3's and evens out the volumes so that when you go from one mp3 to another the volumes don't change drastically.

I'll check it out this week-end.
