I suffer from incomprehensible manual syndrom. Could someone please give me a hand understanding how to create a new Performance?

I wish to create a new Performance which will use patches from an expansion board I have installed. The manual says to first select the patches you want for the new performance (ok so far) but then says to select the performance you wish to use?? I don't wish to use one of the existing performances, I wish to creat an entirely new one and then store it on my smart media card. But I can find no instructions on how to create a new performance; only instructions on how to rename one.

How do I go about this?? Could someone please take me through the steps? I have read all the messages in the archives on this and a number of other boards including all of their FAQ files and can find nothing that addresses this. (Perhaps its simple and I'm stupid?)

At any rate, I sure would appreciate being enlightened otherwise I might eat the manual (maybe it might have some value as a food source).

Many thanks in advance.

Hahaha, your funny Norris; what you said at the end. I can only tell you is that I don't really think you can start from scratch with performance after patch selection, but to use one of the user performances and overwrite existing performances (I was even wondering how you selected all your desired patches without selecting a user performance yet). As far as I have experienced, Norris, I don't think you can start from scratch now that I think of it. I could be wrong of course.

Might like to hear it from Darknosis though, his been alot of help to me.

P.S: The only way I can think of starting with new new performance is initiating performance by default in the utility menu. To me, seems more like a another template. Of course, that's the only closes solution that I have.

Just select the performance and initiate it from there. Hope this helps.

Hi, Of course you can start from scratch. This is the best way unless you are just making small modifications. To start from scratch, push SYSTEM/UTILITY button twice, select F3 initial and then F6 to initialize.. This procedure is AFTER you select performance button in the MODE section...Fran

Fran, I believe you must be talking about the 5080. I have the 3080 and the buttons and procedures are different. I have no function keys and the sytem and utility buttons are seperate buttons on the xv-3080.

Perhaps as TMS said, there is no way to create a new performance without first erasing one in the user area although that seems odd. You would think you could do one from scratch and store it on smart media.

Anyone else have any ideas? Could some one who has done this before on a 3080 list the sequence of steps?

Thanks -- Roy Norris
