Is there away to program or set "preset sounds" for quick access (like just pressing a button) instead of having to dial up through all the numbers? I combed through the manual and may be missing it. I appreciate any help.

Mota, what are you using for a controller? Keyboard? Sequencer?
All the patches are available for recall using program change via your controller..All contollers can send 128 program changes, so if you set your favorite patches in the user location, the basic controller can function in the least compacity[128 patch selections].
More Capable controllers can select LSB and MSB[to obtain the location of A,B,C,etc banks on your module, than selection of your program change...
Your module is equipped and ready to except these, but it depends on your Keyboard to transmit correctly..

I just bought the xp-80. I'm actively gigging and don't have much free time immediately, so I was wondering if I could program into memory somehow approx. 10 or so patches--maybe using the buttons on the front. I notice that they keep the last ones in memory unnil the power is switched off. That would be great if I could put patches of my choice there but have them stay when I reboot each time. Is this somehow possible??

Mota, if you use the user section[patches not performances], they will[should] remain even after powering off..Also your XP80 is an excellent controller and can select any bank on your module.
Your Performance mode on your module is designed to use the patches assigned to the individual channel assignments..

I just realized you are not referring to a JV/XV module, but the XP80 itself..
You can write performances for recall of the setups that you desire..It may seem complicated at first, but once you understand the layout it will come easy..You can also select any patch within any performance in real time...Check the manual[performances]..

Hi Mota,

Congrats on the XP-80. I have one too and really like it. What you're asking is the very fisrt thing I did with mine.

You need to setup up a User Performance. I overwote the factory User 01 performance. I called it simply Bobs01. I don't have my board or a manual in front of me, but basically you go into Performance mode. Bring up User 01, Go into each of the 16 parts available and assign a patch to each part. Then use the Utility and Write functions to save it.

Then when you're ready to play you turn it on, go into Performance Mode. Bring up User Perf 01. Then (unless I'm missing a step). All you have to do is hit the part button you want to hear. If you set that User Perf to layered mode as opposed to single mode, then before playing hit the Local/TX/RX button and set it to Local I think, then you can not only change patches on the fly quickly and easily, but you can layer in and out any of the 16 patches. Becareful though, poly is limited.

You got a great board and it will surely do what you need for up to 16 parts.

Well, you do lose effects when you set up a performance as RW described. You will be back here posting in 2 days wondering how come your sounds in your performance don't sound as good as the patches themselves do. Why do you need to scroll through the sounds? Why not just use the number keypad on the XP? Maybe you could put your 10 main patches in the first 10 user patches. Then just hit 01 then enter or 06 then enter etc etc to select your patch.
