Hi all!
I'm very interested in the Orchestral II and the vintagesynth expansion boards.
One question to the vintagesynth: are there sounds like the Yamaha CS 80 in "Bounty", "Blade Runner" or "Chariots of Fire" or the GX-1 strings/pad-sound in ABBA's "The Day before You came" and "I let the music speak"? Also I'm very interested in that (GX-1??) sound in "One night in Bangkok" ("Bangkok, Oriental setting And the city don't know that the city is getting The creme de la creme of the chess world in a Show with everything but Yul Brynner" and then dammm dadamm comes the sound I'm searching for.
Or is there anybody who programmed such sounds for the internal ROM of the XP or the JD-800?

You can find a Waveform and Patch list on the Roland web sites, or other areas of the Internet.

Yes, I know, thanks. But that are only names, I don't know how it sounds.

I've have the vintage synth card since it was released, it has all those sounds you are talking about, or very close approximations. Overall it sounds pretty awesome, but many of the waves are very similar and redundant I find, for example there are many sine/saw/square waves and they all sound very similar though they are from different synths.

If you are into vintage analog synths, this is really the coolest xpansion card with some very odd waves for making funky retroish sounds. It is a must if you are doing techno and or newage. I do alot of what I call newage-techno fusion so this card is a must. Its got something special in it that makes the patches even sound old, I dunno, it works for me.

Hi!
I heard a demo of that expansion on www.rolandmusik.de, the german Roland website. OK, it is only a demo, but my first thought was: hey, that can be done by a XP without any expansion.
But when You, Novaheart, say that there are those sounds I'm looking for, I will have to check that expansion at a dealer. Maybe the demo uses only a few sounds.... .
