I've got a big problem: I'm sequencing the Roland JV 1010 with Cubase (PC) and I really like the sounds of that little box.

Unfortunately every time when I sequence some sounds they sound quite different in the performance mode than in the patch mode in which I prelisten them. E.g. Synth/Pad 032: Warm Pipe doesn't have any effect (kind of delay and reverb) in the performance mode.

Are the performances bare of all effects or what kind of trouble do I have.

Another question: does it make any difference to control the JV 1010 with Sounddiver or with Cubase JV 1010 Studio Module?

Thanx everybody for help.

Stefan

Stefan:
I played the patch you mentioned in patch mode and in performance mode, and got the same effects.

I know patch previews often have effects which plain voice patches don't have, but I couldn't verify your observation with my setup. I'm using a JV-1010 and Noteworthy Composer on a PC as a sequencer, so that's close to yours.

As for your second question - I've never gotten SoundDiver to do anything for me, so I'm no help there . . .

There's only one set of FX units.
When in patch mode, the sounds can use all 3 of them. However, in Perf mode, you have to tell the JV what fx setup you want to use. The one you choose will be accessible by all the channels, but, of course, they will sound different to when played in patch mode.
If you put Synth/Pad 032 on midi chan one, and tell the JV (using sound diver for example) to use channel one's fx setup for the performance, and if channel one's output is set to the effects output, then it should sound the same as in patch mode.
Sorry, I didn't put that too well.. hope it helps.

Stefan,
SoundDiver is excellent for controlling the jv1010. I use it in conjunction with XG-Works 3.05 (sequencer) and Yamaha's SW1000 soundcard. The big problem with Sdiver is that it is extremely fiddly to configure it for parallel use with your sequencer. I have got mine up and running that way now, and if you go to http://www.egroups.com/messages/sounddiver-users
and have a look at my posting 5116 you should be well on your way towards jv1010 control bliss! While at this site you will do well in performing a search on Hubi or Hubi's, since the key to blissful SoundDiving in parallel with sequencing is Hubi's Loopback Device (freeware).
Remember: It took me quite a while to set things up so that they work - I dare say it is worth the effort...
All the best,
Magnus
