Is there a way to program the ramping speed (slow-to-fast) of the rotary speaker effect on C1 (or some other method)? It seems that it just makes a quantum leap from wildly-rotating down to a dead-stop.

I know that there's more than a tadge of difference between a 50 and an 80 but hey ho:

weird, none of my preset act like this, you sure it isn't just very slow?

The way to control speeds is to select desired patch, then hit edit and then the effects button (I'm not entirely sure how much the layout changed between 50 and 80).

Scroll down through this, on mine it's a couple of lines, then you shuld have 'Hi speed' or similar and 'lo speed' this needs to be adjusted to liking and then save the resulting patch in one of your user patches.

hope that helps

Al

I am not trying to program the "low" or "high" speed. I am trying to program the rate at which it changes from "low" to "high" speed. Just like a real motor spinning from slow-to-fast. I don't own an XP80 yet, I'm considering buying one - and this is an important feature. I am NOT interested in external effects processors (might as well just buy a Leslie speaker cabinet and lug it around!).

What you are describing is possible to do on the XP 50/60/80. It's in the manual, which I don't currently have next to me. Also, what's even better is that the control over rotary speaker speed can be assigned to any of the four assignable pedals that can be input into the XP60/80.

To jump in once again, you'd really need a volume or expression pedal to accomplish what you are doing. A regular sustain pedal will change everything from low speed to high speed instantaneously. The Expression pedal would change things gradually.

You could theoretically assign this same control to a slider - and it would work, but that would be pretty impractical, but then again, a lot of keyboards work this way.

I hope this helped.

Also, the Rotary EFX has two parameters to control slow to fast speed.
From the JV1010 HTML manual:

Low Acceleration (Low frequency acceleration)

Adjust the time it takes the low frequency rotor to reach the newly selected speed when switching from fast to slow (or slow to
fast) speed. Lower values will require longer times.

High Acceleration (High frequency acceleration)

Adjust the time it takes the high frequency rotor to reach the newly selected speed when switching from fast to slow (or slow to
fast) speed. Lower values will require longer times.

MGOMES: You mention the JV 1010, does this apply to the XP-80 also? Thanks.

The parameters are described identically in the XP-80 manual. If you want to see the control parameters for the rotary effect (if you audition an XP anytime soon), enter PATCH mode and dial up USER patch 027 (all tones have rotary effect applied), press F6 (Effects), then press F2 (EFX Prm) and you'll have the effects parameter page.

I reckon I should add that the switching from fast to slow speeds is set up (for the patch I mentioned) to be done with the modulation controller. You can press F3 (EFX Ctl), though, and assign it to a slider or anything else, if you want.
