Now I know that this is gonna piss you guys off. I spoke to a Roland customer service and he argued with me over the phone that both the SC880 and XP60 have ROM chips nd that they can not be user upgraded.
At first I was pissed. Mainly because he denied that a Software upgrade even existed for the two machines and that the Denmark website had nothing to do with Roland US.
After I though about that for a while, I figured that he might be right. Here's why:
I remember ROM upgradeing my old XP50 with a Software Upgrade (1.3). It worked because XP50's with the Serial Numbers 00000-29753 had Flash ROM chips because Roland knew that they're were problems and that they would need to upgrade them later on. However, boards with Chip 1.2 didn't have Flash ROM. If these people wanted ROM 1.3, they would have to get it professionaly done.
It may be well the case that XP60s after a certain number doesn't have a Flash ROM chip. If you have Version 1.10, then you may be set, as that is the second to latest version.
Roland doens't even describe what this upgrade does and maybe it's supposed to be like that. Like I said, as soon as I turned my XP50 on with the disk in it, It started to upgrade itself. This is not the case with the XP60.
