hoping for some help from keyboard pros...

recently I noticed the keys on my PA800 needed cleaning. I used a microfiber cloth, no liquid or anything. it seemed to work fine, but now when I play the keys are almost too slippery. they don't feel right somehow.

I'm wondering if I've done any damage, and if there's a product I can use to restore the feel.

thanks in advance for any/all advice! it's appreciated...

I've never used anything other than a damp cloth with a little detergent on it, and then cleaned off with just water damped cloth... Not enough to drip, just damp.

Never get any residue like this.

Actually, since the keys are just plastic, i've always used rubbing alcohol. Cuts right through fingerprints and gunk and leaves no residue. I just use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol on it and it will dry on its won fairly quickly or you can follow up immediately with a soft dry cloth.

If it helps, I used to work in a music store cleaning and maintaining over 200 pianos and organs, brand new grands included. Never any damage to any of them.

I use unscented baby-wipes...never had a problem...they get rid of grease and fingerprints and the slight amount of alcohol does no harm.

I wipe with a lint free cloth afterwards.

Be careful with the alcohol.

I cleaned a pocket watch gears with alchohol, and when I flipped the watch over the plastic crystal was etched snd translucent.

Like Jeff, I remember when I worked in a music school we used to clean the accordion keys with a light coat of rubbing alcohol ...
I would think too much water might not evaporate quickly enough ...
