I'd like to know how to permanently store user performances on the JV1010. I do my changes on SoundDiver then I send it to the module (transmit), but as soon as I power down all the changes disapear. They're gone when I power up again. Help.

have you tried turning off sysx write protection? I don't know the jv1010, but I own an xp30 and in the UTIL menu, you can turn on the options, internal write protection and sysx write protection. I'm sure you can do this on the jv1010 too.

Hello, all users...

Sorry, Swift Arf, but the real short answer is: YES, you can store patches in the JV1010. This little module is totally functional as any other JV/XP synth.

The memory is organized as follows:
Preset: as it says, read-only.
User: here is where the users patches are written.
Temporary area: is where a patch is loaded for playing or editing.

If you edit a patch, this is done in temporary area. You have to save the edit to a user location to preserve it after power off.
In Sound Diver, drag the patch from the box "Temp Patch/Patches/Performance/Rhythm" (whatherver you´re editing) to a user location. After that, press Ctrl+T to transmit the patch to the equivalent user location in the JV1010.

Also, there is some online documentation in the SoundDiver CD-Rom (the printed manual really sucks..)

You can store anything in user memory. Patches, performances, rhythm sets, even system parameters.

Wherever you got that rolandus.com address from, many congrats - most useful - far more so for first time users than the enclosed manual - but of no help to me. Perhaps you, or some other who deals in impossibilities, know how to get the Yamaha DX7II to tell the JV1010 to play USER PERFORMANCE No: 28. Having to re-program at every power on is a pain.
Meanwhile - may all your notes be sweet, and all your melodies linger.
