GW-8 with speakers, NO patch modify.., and it cost more. Save a few bucks.., buy the GW-8 and with the money you save you can buy a nice set of studio speakers that would make the internal speakers on the Prelude sound like a joke. GW-8 looks nicer too IMO.

I'm curious as where this model "fits in" in Roland's range. Is it above E-50? GW-8? Looking at the price, I'd say it's competing with E-50, which is - as far as I know - still in the market...

Granted the Prelude has a more up to date patch set..., I would still take the E-50 over the Prelude any day. The E-50 has much more going for it IMO. Plus the E-50 has many other features that put it above the Prelude. I'd say the Prelude is really the step up from the E-09, but a step down from the GW-8.

Haven't seen a Prelude (except Honda) or GW8, but I feel the E50 is the most under-rated arranger around.
It sounds good, has many features, is light-weight. I just got it as a fill-in until the Audya arrives, but I like it more and more every night. Can't see parting with it any time soon, even after I get something else, if that ever happens.

If you fall in love with the Prelude's styles and sounds, you are good to go. But if you want to edit ANYTHING, you are boned, basically. Volume or mute, and that's IT. You can't even change the sound a style part uses.

It's a preset machine. Not even a software editor, just extract from MIDI. Horribly time consuming to do even basic stuff (want more or less chorus on a style part? Probably take you over half an hour with GOOD computer skills )

Get the E50/60, and buy a Sonic Cell...

How's that E50 working for you, Donny?

Are you using it or what? How would you compare it with the E60 and G70?

I think that functionally and sonically, the E50 and E60 are identical other than the keyboard, aren't they?
