I have a great number of 3rd.party styles I'd like to use on my tyros 2. Due to the lack of user ram it makes this difficult to do this with the use of the music finder which I've been using right along. I have heard of people making a series of folders (gig disks i think theyre called) for different performance types. Can someone on the forum possibly walk me through this process. I'd like to as an end result be able to name the style after a song, address the intro and variation settings and the tempo and if possible the OTS settings as well.

You can either post it here or contact me by phone at 508-558-3500

Hi Mike
http://www.psrtutorial.com/Resources/Articles/organize.html

There is no faster or efficient way of doing this that I can think of. This also allows you to save the named style at the speed you have it set for at the time of saving it.

The other possibility is to have only user styles on your user drive and put all other user setting on your HD. But it will not be as quick as the way I mention in the article on psrtutorial.

Let me know if you need any help with this.

Scott

Mikey,
Here is what I do.
1. Audition styles until I find one suitable for the song in question.

2. Simply rename the style to the name of the song.

3. Save the renamed "song-style" to either the user area or a thumb drive. Thats it.

I have dozens of folders with my "song-styles" saved in them. Gary Diamond refers to these as "gig disks". They work really well and are easy to organize. I usually tweak the lead voices which is handy. Make sure you check out the link from the earlier post - very good "how to" for you.

A lot of folks prefer using registrations because they offer more flexibilty in what is saved but I have never used them so I can't speak much about them.
