I need help with a yamaha feature that I can't find. I asked this before a few months ago but I still can't find it.

For many of synthzoners that own ketrons or a familiar with ketrons. all of the ketrons have a hold button(near the start/stop) that keeps it in accomp. mode and when you lift your hands from the keys (chord)while the style is playing, the drums continue to play but the bass, 3-4 accomp voices stop. hit the a chord again and your back to entire complete style.

I can't find that feature on the yamaha s900. I spoke to Gary D, sometime ago. but I'm still having problems repeating that kentron feature on a yammie. Gary did mention something about saving it to the reg. but I use my reg. only for solo voices.

How can I do this?

Thanks, Mario

While the style is playing, hold down any 3 consecutive keys....such as C, C#, & D.

This is a little harder to do but you get used to it quickly....if you hold down four consecutive keys, for example, C C# D D#, only the bass line (which would keep playing on a C note, in this case), and drums will play....hit the chord again and you're back to entire complete style.

thank you, but I don't think that solves my problem. I should be able to play any chord if yamaha has that feature. Just don't think that it exists. I looking for a way to turn off the hold of acmp. when turn off the acmp on the s900 it gives you a full keyboard, no split and when its on you have the split. I looking for a sync stop but the drums continue to play when playing a style.

I'll give it a try.

Thanks again

I don't think that maybe I'm explaining it right. If any ketron users can chime in help me explain it better.

thanks.

Hi Guys,
on my psr1500, it's sort of like playing with the auto accomp button switched "on", then hitting the button to turn it "off".
The drums keep playing, the rest of the accomp. stops. Hit the auto accomp button again to turn "On" & your full accomp plays again.
Somehow I don't think it would be practical to switch auto accomp button on & off during performance??
I'm not terribly familiar with the various 3 finger / 1 finger chord settings on my psr ( I hardly use it nowadays), is there a way of acheiving above thru these settings.

On my PA800 it appears I can do it via my EC5 Pedal.
Tap pedal instrument accomp stops, drums keep playing.

Mario, don't know if my explanation makes much sense of what you're trying to acheive
either.
best wishes
Rikki

Do what the other guys said, but it doesn't work in ALL the fingered modes so experiment a little (Press Direct Access and then the Accomp button to get to the controls.)

It works for me very well. Obviously you're not used to it so you don't like it, but once you get used to it it's very easy - perhaps even better than having a dedicated button because you can access the feature without ever lifting your hands off the key bed.

I don't believe there's a way to do it exactly like on the Ketron.

Yes, it cancelled the accomp with the exception of the base, but that's not the feature that I'm looking for.

That too bad, I really miss that hold button.

thank you

I'm hoping Frank from audioworks would know? Do you follow what I'm trying to do?

Thanks

Is there a page where there is a 'solo' button for the Drums Part? Hitting that would have the desired effect, wouldn't it?
