Hi Deane,

I would highly recommend adding some sort of contact form or at least and email link. Some people are too busy to make initial contact by phone.

Good Luck with it

Great site! Clean and to-the-point. You need a contact link, as recommended above.
Hope to see you soon.

Added contact info. Thanks for the input. What is happening in our area is guys who once turned their nose down at a 1 hour senior gig are out there begging for them. A lot of the clubs have cut way back on the live music this year. So, I have to kick my marketing plan into high gear.

Don't forget to Title your Webpage - currently it's "Untitled Document" and looks anonymous in your tabs.

My suggestion is, of course, the name of your Website or alternatively Your name.

A few suggestions:

You should remove on of the phone numbers at the bottom of the home page-you don't need two...

I'd also drop the opening flash intro...Its rather generic, doesn't show you off in any way, its more of a programming dazzle, that's not that dazzling...

Point your url straight at your actual homepage, that's not a bad first impression at all.

Good luck!

Thanks folks for the input. Bill, I agree about the flash intro. I was going to add music to it but really it is not what I thought it would look like.

Hi Dean

Good representation of what you do and what you are targeting.

Nice looking site. What program did you use?

Oh yeah, about the Flash Intro, I believe (not sure) it negates your chances of being found and listed easily in a Google search as Google "sees" a "normal" text/web page easier than it "sees" Flash - or at least gives priority to normal text information.

(I'm no expert on this, but I believe the guts of what I'm saying is true)

OTOH, you may not care about google searches so much as you might be working through word of mouth - pointing interested parties to your site yourself.

I'm not sure about putting music on the page itself - it seems a little amateurish to some, but it's up to you.

Hope the site gets you some good work - Good luck!

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the kind words. Actually I started setting the website up with the tools supplied by 1&1. You can google them. But, my son-in-laws father designs websites and he got to laughing at me trying to get the site ready. He did the whole thing in about 20 minutes with a program called Dreamweaver. It has tons of professional tools that really makes it easy to do websites. All I had to do was provide him with the various elements. The problem is that the program is rather expensive.

No, I don't Donny...I've never really needed one, I'm actually turning down work these past few months.

Word of mouth and getting contacts at gigs seems to work best around here.

I might do one up after the summer...I'm pretty busy with Yamaha and my own gigs.

You're right, though, it can only be a plus.

IMO every pro player should have a website....it's like having a business card extension..... people like to see & hear what they are paying for only makes sense.

I'd also suggest rewriting the copy on the homepage. While its kind of homey it could be better...

Are you only marketing to nursing homes? What other type of clients would you like to work for?

They get to see what they are getting at my gigs...gee, that reminds me, I should get some personal business cards made up...I have lots of Yamaha cards.

And I was planning to retire this year...

Bill,
My only interest is in the Senior market. I have had my fill of smoke filled clubs, dance bands and drunk sidemen, travelling, etc.. decades ago.

So, my website is aimed for a niche market and only them.

Donny,

I have to put off retirement till next year because the two hospital stays this year threw off my plans a bit.

At least I've cut back on the number of gigs, and started charging more for them, so it will work out about the same monetarily.

I just wish I wasn't so lazy about getting cards printed, and web sites started...they just don't matter right now...I get plenty of bookings without them, so they can wait.
