I have a roland XP 60. I don't know much about how to use it and was hoping someone could sorta guide me through some small things... 1) whenever I record bass sounds (just the default ones) I can never get the bass notes to hold for any length of time, Ii was wondering if there is a way to change this. Also, I can only get up to 3 different sounds playing at once then when I try to switch to a different sound it switches one of the other ones to, and ideas. Oh I don't mean sounds as in key notes, I mean sounds as in sound selection (gm-001 or something like that). These are my major barriars right now, any help anyone could give me would be more than helpfull. Thanks in advance.

That depends on the patch you're using. If it's a user patch, try changing the TVA envelope so that the decay parameter doesn't fade. Most bass patches aren't this way by default, because, well, basses don't sustain like that. But you can change that parameter.

Can you be more specific? Are you talking about a patch or a performance? If the latter, is it a layered or single performance? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you might want to read the section on playing the synth (chapter 2, I think). It's a bit confusing, but it might answer some of your questions.

And truly, I synthesize, er sympathise. This is one of the more confusing aspects of the synth.

WOW, you guys really now your stuff. Well, I must say thanks for the advice. I'm not at home now so I can't try it out, but I will be printing up everything and taking it home with me. Once again, thanks for the advice and I'll let you guys know how things are going for me.
