Is it just me, but is the accolades for this because the styles are something that is not available elsewhere, rather than how high the musicality, realism and production is?
Sadly, to my ears, the sounds themselves on these demos, the drum kit samples, the guitars (all MIDI), the horns, you name it, don't sound anywhere NEAR as good as many of the ROM styles. In fact, sorry, but my G70 FRIES those drums for realism and dynamics. And the guitars are a pale shadow of Yamaha or Korg. Horns, blatty and unrealistic, etc., etc.. But the RHYTHMS....? Unique.
I think, more and more, I am beginning to see that people don't rave about an arranger for what it basically sounds like, or what it's OS can (or cannot!) do. They just like the styles. If an arranger has styles in it that nothing else has, it is GREAT (no matter how poor those styles actually SOUND). If it doesn't, it ain't!
These styles have the RHYTHMS that people performing this music want. And that, it appears, is a LOT more important than the sound...

DIKI,
you say: "the guitars (all MIDI), the horns, you name it, don't sound anywhere NEAR as good as many of the ROM styles. In fact, sorry, but my G70 FRIES those drums for realism and dynamics. And the guitars are a pale shadow of Yamaha or Korg...
i would like you to re-listen to FCMUSICA demo 19, 33, 35, 43
THEN
i challenge or dare you to post a MORE realistic sounding guitar accompaniment from your G-70 or ANY other Arranger be it Yamaha, Korg, etc.
ALSO, the G-70 drums do not FRY these AUDYA... i too own a G-70 you know...
so let's hear YOUR ideal guitar accomp. and see who FRIES who...
patiently waiting

Lee, the audio drums on the Audya are the bellwether for realism. 'Cause they are REAL But all these styles use the MIDI kits. Perhaps it is personal preference (how can ANY of us avoid that? ) but I don't hear the dynamics and timbral change that the G70 has. Maybe that's a result of the programming, maybe not. But I can hear it quite well. Note also that I did NOT compare the guitars to Roland's. My views on those are well known. I compared THOSE to Yamaha's, whose Mega voice style guitars have yet to be bettered IMO. Even Audya's audio guitars suffer from changing to MIDI for many much used chords, so IMO, better even than those. And no, I didn't, I think, listen to those syles you mentioned. After about five or more of them, I think I had enough for a general impression. Mea culpa. Next time anyone posts 60 polka styles (or anything you wouldn't ever use) I expect you to listen to them ALL before a comment, OK? Oh, and Donny . .. ... Why not use colons instead of commas for your usual non-comment? Closer to the actual part of your anatomy this level of discourse is coming from, I might hazard...
