I have a band which is what you'd describe as symphonic black or gothic metal.

This being the case, I yearn to find softsynths that have great strings, brass, choirs.. harps (whatever). Packages that come with thick and full tones, where I can edit the EQ the delay to create mysterious atmospheres.

I've tried Kontakt and Spectrasonics Omnisphere (and a few others) and they all have very techno-ish, experimental sounds. Yet, I'm looking for straight to the point instruments like harps and strings that will appear right when you touch (It's hard for me to explain this).

*I have tried the Korg M1 to great success. I just don't exactly like the style of the tones.

Here's songs I admire and that I'm trying to closely resemble:
Cradle of Filth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRhdZZzljdQ
Mortiis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFncOuwHwg8

Perhaps to give a better mental image.. You know most Yamaha, Casio keyboards that come with presets? You want a nice harp sound you go to 84. You want a thick string you go to 83 High strings.

If anyone knows what the hell I'm blithering about and would like to help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I still have my Jupiter 8...the most wicked analog synthesiser ever made...I haven't met a plug-in yet that duplicates it's immediacy and sound.

No...it's close...but no cigar, Abacus.

There's just something about the whole package that makes the Jupiter 8 special...you can't do it with a plug-in.

I've heard them all.

ReFX Nexus and a few of the Expansions would give you a pretty great sound.
